The Salina Liberty soundly defeated the Omaha Beef 39-14 tonight to advance to 2-0 in CIF play on the season.
With another big home win, Salina is off to a dream start, while Omaha falls to 0-1 to begin league play.
The Liberty got the party started early in the first quarter with a 17-yard touchdown run by Tracy Brooks in the opening minutes to take a 7-0 lead.
Salina, led by Brooks, would pour it on in the first, jumping out to a 19-0 start before the end of the quarter.
Brooks would find the end zone two more times before the half, with TD runs of 18 and 4 yards, as Salina entered the intermission leading 26-8.
Omaha made good adjustments defensively, keeping the Liberty out of the end zone in the third quarter, but the Beef didn’t put much up in the way of points as Salina cruised to a victory by a final score of 39-14.
Tracy Brooks finished his evening with 95 yards on 16 carries and a staggering four touchdowns, doubling Omaha's touchdown total all by himself.
The Salina defense held the Beef to under 150 yards of total offense and tightened things up on special teams as well, a key area of improvement from last week.
